Your Data Is Yours. Always.

What happens if we shut down? What if we get hacked? Here's the truth.

What if we shut down?

This is the question every user should ask before trusting a service with their most important documents.

90-day notice minimum

If we ever decide to shut down LegacyShield, we will give you at least 90 days' notice to export your data.

Export tool always available

Download everything in one click. Your files, your contacts, your settings — all of it.

Your keys, your files

Encryption keys are derived from YOUR password — we never hold them. If our servers disappear, your files are encrypted blobs — but you can always re-derive the key.

No lock-in

Your data is yours. We will never hold it hostage or make it difficult to leave.

No VC pressure

We have no venture capital investors pushing us to pivot or monetize your data. We're building for the long term.

What if we get hacked?

Every company is a potential target. Here's what happens if someone breaches our servers.

Zero-knowledge = breach exposes only encrypted blobs

Attackers would find meaningless encrypted data. Without your password, they can't decrypt anything.

No master key exists anywhere

There's no backdoor, no master key, no way for us (or anyone else) to decrypt your files without your password.

AES-256-GCM — same standard governments use

Military-grade encryption. The same standard used by governments and intelligence agencies worldwide.

Your password never leaves your device

We never see your password. It stays on your device and is used to derive your encryption key locally.

Why your data stays safe — regardless of politics

We've thought about this. Here's our commitment to European privacy.

European-owned infrastructure (Hetzner, Germany)

We don't use US cloud providers with an EU region. We use European-owned servers in Germany and Finland.

US CLOUD Act does not apply to us

Because we don't use US-owned infrastructure, American law enforcement cannot compel us to hand over your data.

We would move jurisdictions before compromising privacy

If the EU ever weakened privacy protections, we would relocate to a jurisdiction that values privacy before compromising your security.

Warrant canary on our status page

We publish a monthly warrant canary. If we're ever compelled to hand over data (or stay silent about it), you'll know.

Our Commitment

Simplicity over feature bloat

We won't add features just to add features. LegacyShield does one thing exceptionally well: secure your most important documents.

Open about our security design

We publish detailed explanations of our encryption, key derivation, and architecture. No security through obscurity.

Built for the next generation, not the next quarter

This isn't a get-rich-quick scheme. We're building a service that will be here for decades, not years.

Your trust is our only currency

If we lose your trust, we lose everything. That's why transparency and honesty are non-negotiable.
